Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is field of dentistry which aims at improving the overall aesthetics of your smile. A beautiful smile helps to improve individuals self-confidence, self esteem & personal relationships.

Cosmetic dentistry involves one or any of the following procedures:

Smile Makeover

Smile is first impression on everyone you meet.

Even a normal smile can be enhanced by advanced technique to create smile of your dreams. They may include teeth whitening, porcelain veneers and laminates, a cosmetic gum lift, bonding or contouring teeth, replacing metal or worn dental work & replacing false teeth with dental implants.

Composite Fillings

Cosmetic fillings are tooth coloured fillings which require less drilling of tooth & restore natural appearance of the teeth, unlike amalgam fillings, which require more drilling of tooth and are unaesthetic. Moreover a Amalgam contains mercury which is toxic for our body.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are wafer thin or custom made shells of ceramic used for changing color, shape, size or length of teeth to improve overall aesthetic of your smile.

Bonding

Bonding is a dental procedure in which composite resin is used to sculpt decayed / chipped, fractured or discolored teeth. This procedure can be done in single visit unlike dental veneers. It can be also used to close spaces between teeth, to change shape or color of teeth and it blends to surrounding natural tooth’s colors.

Crowns and bridges

Dental crowns are a custom-made restoration which fits over the prepared existing natural tooth and replaces the natural crown, which is the part of the tooth that is visible above the gums. Dental crowns can be used for strength, durability and tooth stability, or for cosmetic reasons to enhance the appearance of a tooth.

Dental crowns are often required when a tooth has been severely weakened and is no longer structurally sound. This can be as a result of trauma, tooth decay, previous root canal therapy or even general wear over time. This cosmetic dental treatment can also be used to brighten and improve the appearance of one’s smile by covering broken, chipped, stained or discoloured teeth or by modifying the shape of a tooth. Dental crowns are custom-made for each individual patient and can be matched to existing teeth making them a favourable cosmetic dental treatment option.

Bridges are multiple units of crowns which attached together to replace single or multiple missing teeth.

What are the side effects?

The most common side effect is tooth and gum sensitivity. Your dentist is your best resource to ensure that you are a good candidate for whitening and that you are using the right concentration of whitening formula. Philips Zoom at-home whitening products have two mild desensitizing agents, potassium nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), to minimize tooth sensitivity.

How long will my Zoom whitening results last?

Whitening treatments help to reduce existing stains, but through consumption of coffee, soft drinks or just through natural aging, your teeth may eventually become discolored again. Maintenance whitening can help combat recurring discoloration. Only Philips Zoom at-home whitening products include ACP, which has been shown to help reduce whitening fade-back.
